Like Healthy Cooking. Like Never Before. The Unconventional Way.
We are 3 sisters, born and raised in Hong Kong. We love to talk, eat, taste, try new foods. Literally the majority of our conversations revolves around food – the newest restaurant in town, the best thing we tasted on our travels, or gushing over a gorgeous picture of waffles drenched in chocolate syrup on instagram.
We are Chinese by ethnicity. Our grandparents originate in China and Beijing, eventually settling in Hong Kong. Growing up, we had a wonderful experience of immersing in the amazing Chinese traditions brought by our grandparents & studying at a British International School. The wonderful dicotonomy of living in such unique environments helped us develop a love for both our heritage and the global world. Needless to say Hong Kong is an incredible food hub too.
We usually spend our summers traveling with our family to explore and taste new cuisines. Between the 3 of us we have travelled to 14 countries and over 42 cities around the world.
We have our parents to thank for our recipe inspirations. Whilst most families enjoy pingpong or watching movies, our family had a rather unusual hobby of “eating”. We didn’t just eat, in fact, we “savored” the experience of letting our tastebuds travel across the globe at different restaurants. On a typical Saturday, we would often find ourselves eating Italian risotto, grilled fish with lemon-herb butter or banana toffee cake; and enjoying a dinner of korean pork bossam wraps with kimchi. The following Saturday, we would be munching on massaman curry, pad thai, cassava with coconut cream; followed by a light dinner of Yangzhou fried rice, beef noodle stir fry and braised tofu with fish.
Sundays, however, were very special. We had the privilege of enjoying our grandmother’s cooking. She was an incredible chef. You would find her scuttling around with flour in her hands creating some of our favorite Chinese meals: Homemade Dumplings, Wontons, Sweet wheat noodles, Ginger Scallion Crab, Lotus wrapped sticky rice.
On weekdays, after a long day of studying at school, we would would run downtown with friends to grab a Starbucks chocolate caramel frappuccino and blueberry muffins. Other times it would a box of fresh salmon sashimi or even Lebanese Chicken shawarma. If we got lazy it would be as simple as the leftover Mango Float or Nutella crepes.
Our rather unusual, but spectacular childhood laid the foundation for our passion for food. Our recipes reflect our numerous memories of our “weekly tasty adventures” from Thailand to Japan to Singapore to India and Italy.
All of our recipes are gluten free, dairy free and oil-free. Our goal is just to encourage all young people out there just to get into the kitchen and start cooking! It is not only a great stress-reliever, it is also a great way to get in a good meal. Whether or not you are gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant; you can definitely make our recipes. In fact all our recipes are tried and tested by people who aren’t allergic to gluten or lactose. Its always a fun experiment to have them compare our cooking with regular dishes. Our style of cooking is definitely more “gourmet”- and is inspired by newest food trends or restaurants in Hong Kong.
